"You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think."
MRS. NOELANI BUTCHER
'Ele'ele Elementary School
Hello! I am very excited to start my 2nd year as the counselor at Ele’ele Elementary! This is my 10th year to be a school counselor and prior to that I taught special education for 11 years. I received a Masters in Education at the University of North Texas and a Masters in Counseling Psychology at the University Texas A&M. I also earned my National Board Certification in School Counseling.
My favorite thing about working as a School Counselor is ALL the great students I get to see everyday.
I am at school daily from 8:00-3:00 pm. I am always open to meeting with parents, so please feel free to call or e-mail me to make an appointment. If I'm not in my office, I'm likely conducting a classroom lesson, facilitating a small group, or in a meeting.
Please check my page for more updates on what I will be doing this year. I'm looking forward to a great year!

RESOURCES & STRATEGIES FOR HOME
Stay in the Know
COPING SKILLS TO USE AT HOME
Kids need to learn skills to manage their emotions in a healthy way. It's important to teach them coping skills that can help them face their fears, calm themselves down, and cheer themselves up.
GROUNDING STRATEGIES
It is a great way to calm down quickly. Grounding basically means to bring your focus to what is happening to you physically, either in your body or in your surroundings, instead of being trapped by the thoughts in your mind that are causing you to feel anxious.
PLAYDOUGH & FEELINGS
Squishing, rolling, sculpting, molding . . . young children love to play with playdough. Add some props from around the home and playdough play becomes a powerful way to support your child’s learning. This simple preschool staple lets children use their imaginations and strengthen the small muscles in their fingers—the same muscles they will one day use to hold a pencil and write. Using playdough with you, a friend, or siblings supports your child’s social skills such as sharing, taking turns, and enjoying being with other people. Playdough also encourages children’s language and literacy, science, and math skills—all at the same time!
